The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is pleased to announce the Call for Nominations for the Board of Governors is now open. ASME is seeking members from a variety of industry programs and academic institutions for the Board of Governors member-at-large.

Annual Meeting Information
The 2024 ASME Annual Meeting, where candidates will be interviewed and selected, will be tentatively June 1-3, 2024 in Long Beach, California.
Candidate Qualifications
The Nominating Committee will consider candidates’ experiences and skills relative to ASME’s leadership model and advancing the goals of the organization. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment and willingness to serve on a working Board and accordingly, to accept assignments related to the work of the organization. The Nominating Committee looks at diversity in representation in the selection of candidates for inclusion on the election slate. The Committee also looks for nominations of individuals with a high level of engagement in academic and professional organizations. The ASME leadership model includes a Board composed of 12 members-at-large who provide governance to the organization while implementing the organization’s strategic plan through a structure of committees.

Criteria for developing the final slate:
- Minimum of two nominations for each open seat
- ASME Corporate Membership
- Experience in leadership positions (profit and not-for-profit)

Board of Governors Position Description
The affairs of the Society shall be managed by a Board of Governors (BOG) chosen from its membership which shall have full control of the activities of the Society, subject to the limitations of the Constitution and By-Laws, Society Policies and the laws of the State of New York.
